                                        Book Review

"A man is considered a man by the principles that he does not believe in but the principles that he upholds no matter the situation."

This debut novel by the author was one that centered around Cecil and Darren's coming of age and Uncle Tan Sam's revenge to those who have crossed him.  Uncle Tan Sam made calculated moves in the streets. He moved "weight" and tolerated no disrespect not even from his immediate circle.  A circle that would soon expand into a few people that would ultimately lead to him seeking revenge in the streets.  It ends with him passing the torch to a young Cecil. The author did a good job of introducing the characters individually. However, I was not sure how Cecil and Tan Sam were related. Was he a "play" uncle or a blood relation. Tan Sam took Cecil and "schooled" him on life and the streets as Cecil as a young man had an interest in street life. The author treated the reader to relevant scriptures sprinkled throughout the story as the story progressed.   I think the plot and the characters had the potential to be interesting. The story suffered from issues with structure, flow, and spag (spelling, punctuation, and grammar) errors. These issues disrupted the overall story and made for a difficult read.

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. " Proverbs 22:6

Let's see if this holds true for young Cecil in book 2.  You can support the author by getting your copy of his debut novel and leaving a review hereWhile this story didn't work for me, as is,  I would love to see it get a good scrub and re-released to display the author' s vision for this series.
