Book Review
In Jake's Redemption, men are enslaved and have had all power stripped away after a war that saw women rise as the victors. One man, Jake is being subjected to regular torture by his female captor. However, that changes once he is loaned out to a rebellious woman, Monica, to help build a ranch. Monica and Jake find a mutual attraction that could grow into love and more, but with an owner who would rather see him dead than happy and free, there is not much hope for them. The two take the scenic route to finally opening up to each other. So, enjoy the scenery until they finally get it together.

This science fiction (dystopian) romance was definitely a different read for me.  As this is a prequel that sets the stage for the series, the author took her time in creating the world to draw you in as a reader. You meet a host of characters that play or will play what I assume are important roles as the series progresses. The characters were developed, the plot well thought out.  There were moments of repetition and lulls. It's a lengthy 425 pages, which for a prequel was extremely long. well, I think it was long for a prequel.  While this story was to focus on the couple, the "new world" was really the main character or focal point of the story. The romance for me was secondary. I think the author has set up the series nicely if the plan was to actually focus on the new order of things. I found romance to be on the back burner. But, that's just my two cents.
