/əˈrädəkə/              literature or art intended to arouse sexual desire.

The cover, the label of being a cross between "The Coldest Winter Ever" and "Addicted" had me ready to listen to this book. The narrator, Nicole Small, did an excellent job as always. She's one of my favorites. I'm not sure what did not click for me with this story. It was at times perplexing, contradictory, mind-boggling from the level of unbelievable reactions or actions by the main characters. But I found no erotica, which to me implies sensuality and heavily porn-esque material.  Granted erotica means something different to us all, but this was not it. There were scenes of sexual brutality and unmet sexual desire that lead to betrayal and death. It lacked a level of grit and "realness" that I expected based on the 2 books it was compared to in the summary.

I will say the characters were decently developed. The story had continuity even if it moved at a snail's pace. The outcome was predictable. This book just did not work for me as much as I had hoped.
